⚙️ How It Works

Our Car Waxing Process

Every wax appointment follows the same meticulous process. No shortcuts — just professional results.

1

Hand Wash & Rinse

We start with a thorough two-bucket hand wash to remove all surface dirt, road grime, and contaminants. Applying wax over a dirty surface traps debris under the wax and causes microscratches — so this step is non-negotiable. We dry the vehicle completely before moving forward.

2

Clay Bar Decontamination

Even a freshly washed car holds embedded contaminants — brake dust, industrial fallout, and road tar that a wash cannot remove. We use a detailing clay bar to pull these particles out of the pores of your paint, leaving a perfectly smooth surface that wax can bond to properly.

3

Wax Application by Hand

We apply premium wax in small, overlapping sections using soft foam applicator pads. Working panel by panel ensures full, even coverage without missed spots or pooling. We use the correct amount — too little and it won't protect; too much and it streaks and is difficult to remove.

4

Curing & Buffing

We let the wax cure to a light haze — the time varies by product and temperature. Once cured, we buff it off using clean, high-quality microfibre cloths in straight lines to avoid inducing swirl marks. The result is an instantly visible depth and gloss you can feel with your hand.

5

Final Inspection

We inspect the full vehicle under direct light to confirm even coverage, no streaks, and no missed panels. Trim, glass edges, and door jambs are cleaned of any wax residue. We only hand the vehicle back when we are satisfied with the finish — the same standard we would hold for our own cars.

🚗

Mobile — We Come to You

We bring everything needed for the full process — water, power, wash equipment, clay bar, wax products, and microfibre cloths — to your driveway, condo parkade, or office parking lot anywhere in Calgary. You do not need to drop off your vehicle or rearrange your day.

🧴 Products We Use

Carnauba Wax vs. Synthetic Polymer Sealant

Not all waxes are equal. We choose the right product for your vehicle's paint type and condition.

🌿 Carnauba Wax

Carnauba is a natural wax derived from the leaves of the Brazilian carnauba palm. It has been used in automotive detailing for decades and is beloved for one reason above all others: the look. A quality carnauba wax produces a warm, wet, deep glow that synthetic products have never quite matched. The reflections are layered and rich rather than hard and glassy.

The trade-off is durability. Carnauba wax typically lasts 4–8 weeks in Calgary conditions before UV exposure and washing break it down. It requires more frequent application but rewards you with the most visually striking finish available from a wax product.

Best for: Show cars, vehicles garaged or lightly used, clients who enjoy regular maintenance detailing, darker paint colours where the warm glow is most visible.

🧪 Synthetic Polymer Sealant

Synthetic sealants are lab-engineered polymer compounds that bond to your paint with greater durability than natural waxes. A quality sealant can last 3–6 months compared to 4–8 weeks for carnauba, making it the practical choice for daily drivers and vehicles parked outdoors year-round in Calgary.

The finish leans slightly cooler and glossier than carnauba — less of that warm, wet look, more of a hard, reflective shine. On lighter-coloured vehicles or metallics, most people prefer the sealant finish. The extended protection means fewer service appointments and better value over time.

Best for: Daily drivers, vehicles parked outdoors, light and silver paint colours, clients who want longer intervals between wax services.

Not sure which is right for your vehicle? We assess your paint condition, colour, and usage habits during the appointment and recommend the product that will deliver the best result. Both options are included in the same service price.

⏱️ Durability

How Long Does Car Wax Last in Calgary?

In ideal conditions — a garaged vehicle washed gently and infrequently — a quality carnauba wax can last 6–10 weeks and a synthetic sealant 4–6 months. Calgary's conditions are far from ideal, which is why real-world wax life here is shorter than what product labels suggest.

Calgary roads are salted heavily from October through April. Road salt is one of the most aggressive paint contaminants available, and it attacks wax coatings with every drive. Combined with Calgary's temperature swings — from -30—C in January to +30—C in July — wax expands and contracts with the metal beneath it, eventually breaking down the bond.

Calgary also receives over 2,400 hours of sunshine per year, making it one of Canada's sunniest cities. UV radiation degrades wax faster than almost any other factor. A vehicle parked outdoors in Calgary in July will lose its wax protection measurably faster than the same vehicle in Vancouver or Toronto.

As a general guide for Calgary drivers: carnauba wax every 6–8 weeks during winter driving season, and every 8–10 weeks in summer. Synthetic sealant every 3–4 months year-round. If water stops beading and sheeting off your paint, it is time for a fresh application. Ceramic coating is the alternative if you want protection that holds up to Calgary winters without seasonal re-application.

Wax Durability: Calgary Conditions

Carnauba — Summer (garaged) 8–10 weeks
Carnauba — Winter (outdoor) 4–6 weeks
Synthetic Sealant — Summer 4–5 months
Synthetic Sealant — Winter 2–3 months
Ceramic Coating (our upgrade) 2 yrs — lifetime

❓ Common Questions

Car Waxing — Your Questions Answered

For carnauba wax, we recommend every 6–8 weeks during winter driving season (October to April) and every 8–10 weeks in summer. For synthetic sealant, every 3–4 months year-round. The practical signal is water behaviour — when water stops beading and sheeting off your paint after a wash, it is time for a fresh application. Calgary's road salt and UV intensity reduce wax life compared to milder climates.
No — wax fills in and optically masks very fine surface marks, making them less visible, but it does not remove scratches from the clear coat. If your paint has noticeable swirl marks, deeper scratches, or oxidation, you need paint correction before waxing. Waxing over damaged clear coat just seals in the defects. We can assess your paint during the appointment and recommend whether correction is needed first.
Generally, no — and you should not. Most ceramic coatings are designed to be maintained with a ceramic-specific spray booster, not wax. Applying carnauba wax over a ceramic coating can interfere with the coating's hydrophobic properties and bonding characteristics. If your vehicle has a ceramic coating, book a ceramic maintenance wash with us instead. We use pH-neutral products and a dedicated ceramic booster spray to restore the coating's water-beading performance.
A standard waxing service — including hand wash, clay bar decontamination, wax application, curing, and buffing — takes 2–4 hours depending on vehicle size. A compact sedan takes closer to 2 hours; a full-size SUV or truck takes 3–4 hours. We work at your location throughout, so you can continue your day at home or in the office while we work.
No — washing your vehicle is included in every waxing appointment. We start with a thorough two-bucket hand wash as part of our standard process, so you do not need to do anything beforehand. Showing up with a clean car does not save time or cost — we always wash before waxing regardless, because applying wax over any surface dirt causes damage.
